M. C. Frontón en la tradición epistolar

Abstract

Fronto's works ha ve very seldom been studied from the point of view of epistolo­graphy. This paper is an insight in the way the author includes himself within this geme's tradition. In the first place 1 examine the references that Fronto and his addressees make about the essential meaning of the letter , its functions and the most outstanding features of epistolar discourse. Then, formal aspects are dealt with, determining the fundamental aspects of the structure of epistles following the model established by Cicero, Seneca and Pliny.
