Abstract

The paper is about the use of sexual metaphors and animal symbols to express religious concepts of the relationships between men and women, gods and goddesses, and humans and deities, with particular reference to the Indo-European myth and ritual of the mare, and the parallels found between Aryan India, Celtic lreland, and ancient Greece.
