Abstract

This article attempts to give new points of view about Plautine chronology. It focusses on 'topicality' and tries to discuss its traditional value as a system of interpretation. An alternative way of dating the comedies ofPlautus will be established by studying the 'speaking names' of characters under stylistic criteria.
