Abstract

Quevedo's famous sonnets «A Apolo siguiendo a Dafne» and «A Dafne huyendo de Apolm> are deterrnined by their style difficulties and by the grotesque component. We can make a successfull comparision between Quevedo's life and time and bis poetry but, beyond literature and social context, we can ask ourselves about the logic that makes the author's writing the way it is. We have tried to focus on answering to a question: why Quevedo can't folow Ovid or Garcilaso? The answer must be found in the impact between Ranaissance and medieval Quevedo's ideology, that produces his very singular poetry influenced by its classical background.
