Abstract

In this paper we intend to analyse one of the most beautiful epigrams of the humanist Arias Barbosa, born in Aveiro. Through the study of his sources and his aesthetic resources, we want to show how he collects and alters the Latin literary tradition to justify his departure from the city after his retirement.
