Abstract

Within the framework of Córdoba´s candidature for the European Cultural Capital 2016, the Contemporary Architecture Foundation drafted, together with the Cultural Extent of the City Council, a Plan of Cordoba’s Cultural Facilities and Infrastructures (PEICC).

This plan states the indissoluble link between the concepts of culture and city within the public space, which is regarded not only as the main place for cultural activation but also as a way of connecting all urban facilities. The result is a geographical map of public spaces and facilities that can foster the value of the city’s heritage, while encouraging the recognition of Cordoba as a reference landmark for contemporary urban culture, therefore launching a long term process towards a productive model that stresses the role of the cultural industries.
