Service-Learning as a teaching method for responsible citizenship and professional training. A proposal of University Social Responsibility in the UNICACH

Abstract
Higher Education Institutions are committed to training competent professionals that care for sustainable development. This requires teaching methods that propose relevant work schemes, so, in this article, Service-Learning is proposed from the perspective of University Social Responsibility. In the first part, the fundamental theoretical aspects are exposed to understand the methodology and its objective. Subsequently, it is presented the case of the Degree in Human Development of the University of Sciences and Arts of Chiapas (UNICACH), where this methodology has been used for a period of 7 years, allowing satisfactory results. The text concludes that Service Learning is a method that sensitizes young people to the social problems of their environment, which forms them as active and participatory citizens in the search for human development.
