Abstract

The “Unity in Diversity” slogan has covered the whole history of nationalism in India since the colonial period to the present, as a foundational concept of the Indian nation, or the India Union, its official name. This paper deals with the development of the slogan from the end of the 19th century up to the beginning of the 21st, through its reflections in fine arts and in some examples of visual culture.
