Abstract
Young people live and experiment with different styles, preferences or tastes in order to define their own style of identity. Influenced by family, friends and mass media, young Mexicans (who make up the largest sector of the population of present-day Mexico) are primarily defined by their appearance, fashion, language, music and likes. So, the creation and development of Mexican institutions for services and attention to the youth sector have influenced the current cultural situation of Mexican youth. This article describes the development of institutions aimed at the youth sector and some of the main characteristics which establish the social behavior of young people in Mexico.
