Abstract

In the Brazilian public health system, the Family Health Strategy (ESF) offers community biopsychosocial care, with pedagogical support from specialized professionals from the Expanded Family Health and Primary Care Center (NASF-AB), to increase demand resolution. The present study aimed to understand the technical-pedagogical dimension of the NASF-AB actions in a capital in the Northeast of Brazil. Qualitative research was carried out, of an ethnographic type, with participant observation of two NASF-AB teams, whose data were analyzed through ethnographic reports. The results indicate that the service positively impacted the health of users, through the development of educational group activities. However, pedagogical support for the ESF is still limited due to difficulties in the relationship between the teams of the two services. It was concluded that, despite the little pedagogical relationship with the ESF teams, the NASF-AB made significant progress in biopsychosocial and community health care.
