Main Article Content
Abstract
The study examined the impact of Mindfulness on self-perceived happiness among high school students at a public school in northeastern Brazil. The objective was to evaluate how Mindfulness influences the self-perception of happiness and attention in young high school students. A questionnaire was carried out to identify the students' profile and their self-perception addressing attention and happiness on scales with a total of 47 students. Subsequently, a randomization formed the Control Group and Experimental Group where they went through 8 meetings following the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) protocol, at the end the scales were redone. The results, analyzed by Shapiro-Wilk, Levene and Two-way ANOVA tests, revealed substantial improvements in students' self-perception of happiness and attention with the practice of Mindfulness. Therefore, it is concluded that this approach is effective in increasing the perception of happiness and attention, providing an improvement in the general condition of the sample.
