Abstract

The presence of folklore in the educational curricula of Music Education in the Comunidad Autónoma of Aragon is analyzed, and specifically the Aragonese jota, the most characteristic musical genre of the region, with a common germ with other manifestations of traditional music in the rest of Spain. Its reception is well-considered in the educational and academic field, due to its multidisciplinary nature. In addition, a quantitative study is carried out through a questionnaire applied to students of the Degree in Primary Education. They answered about educational, musical and identity aspects of the genre, during their training in university and in relation to their future teaching practice. From the results it can be deduced that the training received on the subject is scarce, as well as their general knowledge, although they show interest in receiving it and in imparting these contents. It can also be concluded that, although the educational legislation accepts folklore as a content in Primary Education and in university teacher training, it does not make specific allusion to the Aragonese jota as occurs in other regions with their traditional music.
