Abstract

The works of división fulfilled during the constitucional periods, concretly, the projects of 1813 and, specially that of 1822, are considered the most direct precedents of the provincial división of 1833. But an intermediate step exists, few acquaintance, among the project of 1822 and the definitive one of 1833. From 1829 there developed the whole important labour of territorial reordering in which there played a fundamental role Chancillerías, Hearings and Town halls of the capitals of province, in a preliminary labour that today provides to us a documentation of great value to know the process of gestation of the current provinces and the social and institutional reality of the Spain of beginning of the 19th century. With this basic documentation there is analyzed the definition of the province of Jaen in the state of bankruptcy of the Antiguo Régimen.
