Abstract

The final expulsion of the moriscos from the Kingdom of Granada was one of the most complicated chapters of the exile initiated in 1609, due to the high level of integration of the moriscos community in the society and territorial administration. Only with great effort, through special committees of justice and concessions, the Crown managed to expel a good number of these Grenadians. However, the expulsion was never completed. Some Grenadian institutions aded in the defense of moriscos about to be expelled, making it difficult for the Crown to accomplish their goals, who in turn had to concede defeat in some cases.
