Abstract

The uncertain future the expulsion opened for the Moriscos and Aragoneses determined the behaviour of one another after the estrangement order from Valencia. The media speech launched from different instances with the intention of intoxicating the public opinion —culminating a process which was rooted in the anomalous conversion—, has nothing to do with reality. It just defines the position of one part of the population on the minority. Aragon accepted submissively the royal decision despite of the huge economic cost the exile meant, as the slow and difficult resettlement proved it to be. Nor those who remained neither those who returned back represent figures important enough to be considered. However, it attracts attention to note this Philip III intransigence when showing expulsion as the most important issue to Monarchy.
