Abstract

Museum that have traditionally focused on the construction of discourses about identity and representation of the dichotomy us/others have to redefine their traditional approaches to suit the needs of the 21st Century. Immigration museums have a key role to reflect on the representation of complex identities that have emerged in the current context and also seem to express the main paradoxes and logics involving musealization of intangible heritage, so they can also contribute to the development of this field of study.
