Abstract

The attitude towards 17th century painting in Granada which was held during the Romantic period must be seen within the literary, historical and artistic world-view of the 19th century. lt fell in with Romantic interests and aimed to preserve an artistic heritage which had been severely sadly neglected due to the prevalence of political altitudes which did were not sympathetic to the idea of modernity.
