Abstract

Eusebio Yaldés has not been treated in detail, but he illustrates the transition from the Baroque to the Enlightenment in 'fringe' contexts. We provide an up-to-date overview of the man and the artist, and indicate
sorne works which can be attributed to him. Above ali, we offer certain hypotheses about his work and professional career in its socio-cultural context, whích led him to work in three different dioceses in Eastern Andalusia and to take on commissions from bishops and ecclesiastical authorities and also from the Court of Castile.
