Abstract

The last milling in the sugar refinery known as Nuestra Seiiora del Pilar took place in 1984. From that time, when the machinery finally stopped, to the present a series of events have occurred which also form part of the history of the factory. These events revea! the vulnerability of movable items of our artistic and industrial heritage, and in the present paper they are analysed in detail, not only because of the unique nature of the fittings concemed, but because such a study illustrates practica! considerations which can not always be observed in a specific case: effects of change in ownership, leve! of protection., plundering, theft, etc.
