Abstract

In this paper the work of the Granada artist Mariano Bertuchi is discussed, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of his death. Apart from his paintings, which have been studied in detail, we concentrate on his work as a graphic designer, since this activity is less well known. Bertuchi's versatility and the amount of his works, together with their high quality represented an importan! contribution to graphic design in Spain in the first half of the 20th century. His work is examined by typology: publisher's designs (examined in the present paper), advertising and symbols and logotypes.
