Abstract

Pablo de Céspedes, humanist, cleric and Cordovan artist, made around 1597 a copy of the Virgin of Antigua painting in the Cathedral of Seville for a chapel in the Cathedral of Cordoba, which is involved in some artistic and theoretical processes. Recent studies also suggest the intervention of the artist in the transformation and translation of the Virgin of Antigua altarpiece in the Cathedral of Seville, which took place from 1578.
