Abstract

This  paper  discusses  an unusual  drawing  which  is kept in the National  Historical  Archives,  separated  from a bundle of similar documents. It is to be placed in the context of one of the most interesting social and legal disputes in modern Granada: the famous chair lawsuit, which lasted for more than a century. The drawing must have represented some kind of specialist or graphic evidence in this lawsuit, which in turn makes it of special interest today, as an intriguing testimony to the realities of the epoch, while at the same time showing the narrow  margins  within  which  artistic  patronage  had  to operate.
