Abstract

Reflections on the deterioration of historie monuments in Granada.
As the tittle suggests, this article constitutes a commentary on the results of public and private urban developments in Granada which, little by little, have seriously damaged the historie centre of the town. This, together with a disastrous town planning policy in recent years has resulted in the aesthetic and functional deterioration of historie buildings. According to the author, in addition to a striking carelessness as regards the maintenance of the most important historical buildings in the past, we are at present witnessing a generalized deterioration of the urban environment. This is due both to the inefficiency of local government measures and to the unbridled speculation of building contractors.
