Abstract

The Martyrs' Palace (el Palacete de los Mártires) was built after 1 846, when the land was acquired by Carlos Manuel Calderón y Molina, and of residential architecture and landscape gardening in 19th century Granada. Moreover, this construction takes place within a preiod (from 1844 to 1868) which was to prove decisive in the process of urban and architectural renovation, and to determine the bourgeois and eclectic nature of the town. The present study, then, concentrates on the simultaneity between the building of the palace and the new aims proposed for town planning in the middle years of the last century.
