Abstract

In this paper the author concentrates on a recently discovered canvas by the Baroque artist from Granada, Juan de Sevilla. The work is found in the collection of the convent of santo Tomás de Villanueva (Granada), familiarly known as «las Tomasas», and was painted when the artist was at the height of his powers.
It was incorrectly catalogued for a long time, but is now known to be by Juan de Sevilla thanks to the careful restoration of the picture. This restoration process is also dealt with in the article.
