Abstract

In this paper the author discusses certain features of the organ music of Cabanilles which represented a considerable novelty in the context of keyboard writing at the end of the 17th century and which opened the way for the development of the new style of the 1 8th century. Further, his toccatas are analyzed, since they can be considered a new and original type of composition in the Spanish keyboard repertoire.
