Abstract

This article aims to bring to light the morphological features of the churches situated in the region of the Lecrin Valley and to relate their history. Although many of these churches are small, it is necessary to study them, since such a study will contribute to our knowledge of our architectural heritage in general. Nearly ali of them belong in style to what are called mudejar churches, which were often destroyed in the rebellion of the baptized Moors and which later underwent numerous extensions and refonns. In contradistinction to these mudejar churches we also find sorne classicist ones which are quite interesting as architectural monuments. The present article fonns the first part of the proposed study.
