Techniques for the study of the mineralization of -P-, contained in the -DNA-, by soil bacteria (1)

Resumen

A plate technique to investigate the ability for P liberation from DNA, by soil bacteria, has been studied.

DNA, in colloidal suspension, (pH= 7-7,1), is added to a basal medium making it opaque.

Detection of desoxirribonuclease producing organisms was achieved by halos obtained (photography).

Halo formation must be estimated as a proof of P liberation from DNA, since it was confirmed, by checking of the same bacteria in another technique, (also described in this paper), using a basal liquid medium with DNA as sole phosphorus source.
