Abstract

This article raises the modernization occurred in Spain during the twenties and thirties from the point of view of women’s participation in daily life and in leisure spaces. The study of contradictions and pluralities of the lived culture is a priority in this article as well as transformations of gender social relations, which were initiated in the “happy” postwar period and acquire a full development in the republican context, which is not just characterized for a freedoms and citizenship development but for a political and social confrontation.
