Abstract

The subject of analysis is the media impact when the italian women had their first chance to vote. The debate and the silence that the general and the specific press reflected are also taken into account. Another subject of the study are the visual representations on the cinematographic news programs during the 1946 elections. Also, the activities stimulated by the Italian women during the last years of World War II in favour of voting and its social repercussions and the attitudes of the different political parties towards this new phenomenon are also considered.
