Abstract

In Madīnat al-Zahrā’, men and women lived in urban spaces dominatedby a regime of gender def ined by a strict sexual segregation, with aregulated mixing where we could not avoid  the  contacts,  in houses  oraljama,  and  with  exclusion  of the  women  from  the  spaces of  thepower.  In spite  of this exclusion,  the women  were  present  in thespaces  used  for the rituals of the power and the city always bore afeminine name.
