Abstract

Architecture journals play an essential role in both teaching architecture and also in the dissemination and critique of the activities undertaken by practitioners from the discipline. This marked influence evolved significantly – virtually alongside the profession itself – throughout the 20th Century. Contemporary social, cultural and, above all, technological changes are far from inconsequential in this relationship. The present article therefore focuses on the work of architecture journal editors in the early 21st Century, an era dominated by information technologies. With Google as a paradigm of the influence of these technologies on our lives, we are led to question exactly what has changed and what still remains of the more classical notion of editing. This is a natural evolution that seeks to widen the physical dimension of publications and exploit the possibilities offered by environments that have revolutionized how we interact with journals.
