Notes for a Web 2.0 Digital Media History and its Impact on Architecture
Main Article Content
Abstract
The profound transformations caused in the last 20 years by the rise of digital media, as well as the irruption and consolidation of social networks, have led to new roles and formats in architecture. Self-publishing in digital media has allowed the emergence of new voices and discussions that do not depend solely on traditional media and academia. In particular, new roles have emerged, such as digital architecture communicators and curators, and the format of architecture news has been consolidated as an editorial format. However, there has also been a debate about the hyperproduction of images and their possible impact on the production of discourses in architectural culture. Additionally, social networks have changed the business and information consumption model, and have consolidated their algorithms as a new soft power.
