Abstract

This article intends to offer a dynamic classification that allows us to define and develop what a post-internet pictorial practice implies in contemporary times. The first part of the article will be dedicated to a brief historical review of the post-internet condition, as well as to conceptualizing the practice as the type of painting that has suffered the impact of the Internet and digital technologies in any material and visual field of its process. The rest of the article will provide a taxonomy of this pictorial practice, based on its ways of virtualizing and appropriating the languages of ciberspace in analog space, with four main categories proposed: immediate painting, repetitive painting, screen painting and idiot painting.
