Abstract

DreamCity is an experimental documentary trilogy made in three neighbourhoods in different Spanish cities: San Antón in Cuenca, San Francisco in Bilbao, and Russafa in Valencia. The documentaries are structured around the story of Ayoub, a little migrant boy who guides us via this investigation across the three cities that represent three stages of his life. Here, numerous voices and protagonists work to build a choral story that is threaded together with artistic interventions and actions— «human acts capable of changing the nature of the city »—given that the city is, itself, a complex relationship between its physical forms and the social forces at play. Having a right to the city gives the city its meaning as a place mediated by the law. It means asserting one’s rights as expressed through the law.
