In the frame of the international project ALFA II-0448-A (Evaluation of Music Teacher Education Programmes), granted by the Europe Aid Co-Operation Office, this article makes a qualitative analysis of the degree of music teacher education in Spain. We explain the process of
convergence with Europe in Higher Education from the analysis of current degrees to the new undergraduate studies in Primary Education with specialism in Music Education. Finally we offer different reflections about achievements, difficulties, demands and regressions throughout this
