Uno de los dos trazados proporcionales de la Bāb al-Uzarāʾ
Keywords:
Proportion, Art, ArchitectureAbstract
This design is based on dividing the W. oratory wall of the Mosque of 'Abd al-Rahman I in three equal squares, and the central square into seven equal parts, the middle one for the door, a system inherited from Antiquity by Hispano-Muslim art. Successive proportional rectangles give the door width, lintel, lateral pilasters, horseshoe arch, tympanum and voussoirs, the lateral parts of the tri-partite façade, the windows, central blind arch, and eaves. The façade shows a general scheme of three successive groupings (square - 2 rectangle-square); and in the upper eaves, two 3rectangles.Downloads
