Abstract

Our initial wish with this article is the study of a funerary altar, judging by the material evidence from the necropolis of Casa de la Vereda or Cortijo de los Panes (Gilico). Since Gilico's current state of knowledge is deficient, we have tried to offer a first archaeological approach. This rural environment is also situated between Calasparra and Cehegín. On the other hand, the scarce bibliography available from Gilico has caused that most of the data obtained come from archaeological works, currently overturned in the Archaeological Chart of the Region of Murcia. Finally we conclude that the territory of Gilico constitutes a series of farms of Roman epoch which, dispersed around the very fertile Quípar River Basin, played a strategic role, more concretely in the region of the Northwest Murcia between the I-V century AD.
