Abstract

The traditional analysis of sources has proved fruitless as to the understanding of the literary work. So, this paper aims to show the relevance to study the way in wich Boethius uses classical authors; this is particulary seen in The Consolation of Philosophy following guidelines proposed by G. Genette and G. B. Conte. By applying the concept of «intertextuality» the constrast between The Consolation of Philosophy and other works by Virgil allows to discover a set of aims and a sense which tum out complete the understanding of Boethius' text.
