The Peace of 366 B.C. had but one consequence: a marked change of the status quo which the Teban general had left in the Peninsula of Peloponeso after his victory at Leuctra. This shift forced Epaminondas to launch a fourth invasion, which in fact turned out to be a challenge to his hegemonic power; the battle of Maintinea.
