Abstract

From its beginnings at the end of the XIX century, the drum set easily integrated most music genres music, making it one of the most recognized instruments in today’s society. The function of the Trap Sets as sound effect devices, as well as the image of a single musician playing a set of instruments, also contributed to the interest in this new instrument. This article will thus reflect on the historical and organological evolution of the drum set and its players, pointing the virtuoso drummer as the last stage for the generalized recognition and acceptance of the drum set in the XX century.
