Abstract
Prejudice has currently become a noticeable issue and has been approached from several different perspectives. As well as being an object of study, this topic represents a social phenomenon occurring in unequal relationships that exist among human beings. Under such conditions, it is also present in several areas of human coexistence, such as at school. We observe that schools have been placed at the forefront of the challenge to deal with human diversity as well as with processes of inclusion and overcoming prejudice. Surely this issue needs to be discussed by teachers and education researchers, combining experiences and problems of the school context with theoretical studies in order to trigger a successful analysis with results in school practice. These results aim primarily to contribute to overcoming barriers that hinder building relationships while striving towards cultural diversity and democratic citizenship. In this paper, we present the results of a survey about prejudice carried out in the area of Education in two Post Graduate Programmes in Education in Southern Brazil.
