Illustrated musical stories with audiovisual support: an interdisciplinary experience in undergraduate studies of Preschool Education and Primary Education

Over the years, the Research Group in Arts and Education (GRAE) at the University of the Balearic Islands has been implementing different interdisciplinary projects in undergraduate studies in both Preschool and Primary Education relating to subjects such as literature, music, visual arts and new technologies. We present the project carried out during the year 2012-2013, which focused on the world of narrative. Based on a representative sample of stories and universal narratives, each student wrote his/her own narrative. These texts were then illustrated by arts students and finally set to by music students. New technologies students filmed the entire creative process, intertwining the different parts of the work done. Finally, a selection of the stories was dramatized by literature students, with musical arrangements by music students. The assessment of the work highlights the intense motivation felt by students in carrying out interdisciplinary projects, in executing creative teamwork and in being able to transfer work done to their future educational jobs in elementary and primary schools.Downloads
