Abstract

Historiography shows a clear interest on urban elites and their relationships with the municipal institution for quite a time. Reserches about the oligarchy of the Kingdom of Granada, and the one of Baza, have a special advantage because of the facilities to arrive to the origin o this dirigent class after a period of war and conquer. The economic and social development of this class, its participation in the gouvernamental policies of the cities and the family strategies, let us study deeply this elite groupe. We analyse the genesis and evolution of Baza’s council in relationship with this elite groupe. We also study the different periods and institutional reforms that progresively and rapidly lead to the stagnation and monopolization of patrimony and posts developed in Castilla some centuries ago.
