Abstract

We present several letters and memorials of Francisco de Torrijos, a clergyman of moorish origin, to Juan de Austria and to Felipe II on varios topics related particularly to the moorish revolt but also to the moorish minority as a whole. A biography of the contradictory personage and his ambitious role in the war is traced in the introduction. He was probably a spy of both side and he benefited from his outstanding services: Abbot of Alpuj arra and Canon of the Cathedral of Granada Finally we analise his radical tought about the moorish community, with was relevant for the Crown, and his efforts to hide his moorish origin.
