Abstract

The last years have witnessed a remarkable growth of university historiography as well as an increase in the variety of fields and methods of research. One of the aspects better considered is the one related to the contents of teaching. The study of university syllabuses is central to the study of the academic institution. This paper surveys the main studies recently published on syllabus reform during the reign of Charles III, when the Spanish University went through major upheavals. Chronologically, the paper deals with the projects sponsored by Mayans, Tavira and Campomanes, and goes on to review the syllabuses belonging to each University.
