Abstract

The goal of this paper is to assess the importance of irrigation and dry farming in the province of Almería since XVIth Century until XXth Century. At first the share of irrigated crops in the agriculture was small, but it will not be reached again until the second half of XXth Century with modem technology. The expulsion of moorish did not entail the reduction of the irrigated surface, in the following three centuries irrigation increased continuosly, but dry farming crops increased much more.
