Abstract

Through the Brief written by Juan de Aponte Figueroa a critical panorama of the Peruvian viceroyalty is presented. Their author denounces the corruption of the real officials and the abuses of the encomenderos, the doctrineros and the curacas. He points out the causes of the lack manpower in the mines and he offers solutions. He describes the deplorable state that they were the defenses the Peruvian and Chilean coast and he aims certain ways to remedy the situation. He justifies an intervention to blood and fire to put an end to the war in Chile. The proposals were based on their professional experience and in direct observations, but they din't have echo in the Court.
