Abstract

The present article is part of a larger research on the fiscal system in the Kingdom of Granada after the Christian conquest. I study the "rentas mayores" and "menores" of the city of Granada, the capital of the Kingdom of which the majority of the population was of subject muslim during the first two decades after the Castilian victory. The continuity of the the muslim taxes was guaranteed by the surrender treaties, but the general conversion to Christianity of Muslim population involved a process of acculturation between the Christian and Muslim fiscal systems which darken de correct description of this taxes and their recollection. I focus mainly in the fiscal districts, the tax collector and the description of the taxes included in the "rentas mayores".
