Abstract

The morisco population in La Mancha, formed both from local mudejares converted during the reign of the Reyes Catolicos and from granadino immigrants came after the Alpujarras riot, show evidence of how complicated was the society and culture of that time in the center of the Catholic Monarchy. The aim of this article is to examine the fascinating lifes of this minority, always prosecuted and under surveillance, but with an extraordinary ability to survive adversities and intolerance.
